The French team Groupama-FDJ announced this Monday the arrival in its 2026 roster of sprinter Axel Huens, who had previously worn the colors of Unibet Tietma Rockets.

Axel Huens has committed to two seasons with Groupama-FDJ, after spending two years under the colors of Unibet Tietema Rockets. The 24-year-old Frenchman was at the end of his contract with the team that will be called Unibet Rose Rockets in 2026 and has notably just recruited the Haute-Savoie native Victor Lafay.

Huens competed in his first Monument in 2025, Paris-Roubaix, finishing in 27th place. He had also finished in 8th place in the Tour de Vendée and 32nd in Paris-Tours to end his season. The native of Buire-Courcelles (Somme) will come to strengthen the sprint hub of Groupama-FDJ and will also have opportunities in the classics.

“I already know Paul (Penhoët) and several riders with whom I have shared experiences in the French team, so I already feel well integrated into the group,” explains Huens in the statement from his future team. What convinced me was the coherence of the project in my career: finding an environment where I can continue to learn and grow. As the years go by, I discover myself more and more as a complete runner, capable of expressing myself in different types of races. I want to continue to reach new levels each season, and I feel that this is the ideal place to do so.
