Will he still be in the peloton in 2026? At 40, Christopher Froome is not being extended by Israel-Premier Tech

At the end of his contract with Israel-Premier Tech at the end of the 2025 season, Christopher Froome (40 years old) will not be extended and will therefore leave the team he joined in 2021.
Will Christopher Froome still be in the peloton in 2026? At 40, the Briton’s future is uncertain, but it will certainly not be under the colors of Israel-Premier Tech. The four-time winner of the Tour de France under the Sky jersey (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017) was at the end of his contract, his non-renewal had been in doubt in recent months, but his team has now officially confirmed it thru a message posted on social media.
The departures of Pascal Ackermann, Riley Pickrell, Matthew Riccitello (who has committed to the future Decathlon-CMA CGM team) or Michael Woods (retirement) have also been confirmed. Froome joined Israel-Premier Tech in 2021 and has not won a single victory with the team. In August 2025, the Briton had been hospitalized after a fall during training and had therefore had to end his season prematurely.
No Grand Tour run in 2025
In 2025, he had only competed in the Tour of Poland, the Sibiu Tour, the Tour of Switzerland, the Tour of the Alps, and the UAE Tour. But no Grand Tour. Co-sponsor of the Israel-Premier Tech team since 2022, the Quebec company Premier Tech recently announced the end of its partnership with the team with immediate effect. The team will also not bear the name Israel in 2026, as had been announced at the beginning of October. His boss and co-owner Sylvan Adams had, for his part, chosen to “withdraw from his daily involvement.”
